Larry Walsh Jr. appointed to open State Rep seat

Will County Democrats appointed on Monday evening Jackson Township trustee Larry Walsh Jr. to replace retiring 86th District State Rep. Jack McGuire (D-Joliet) effective immediately.

Walsh, the son of Will County Executive Larry Walsh and Elwood native will serve out the remainder of McGuire's term and will replace the longtime public servant who resigned April 6th on the November ballot for re-election.

Will County Democrat Pastor Herbert Brooks was pleased with the selection saying that Walsh will have a good chance in November to win. "I think Larry is a strong candidate and will be able to quickly mobilize in preparation of November's election. There was a very good pool of people to choose from and all deserving but Walsh will give us a great shot to win the November election."

Joliet Township High School Board member Paige Vanderhyden, Joliet City Councilwoman Jan Quillman and Joliet Junior College Trustee Dan O’Connell each sought selection for the open seat in addition to Walsh.

Mr. Walsh Jr. could not be reached for comment.
