Passer-by cars honked greetings as approximately 15 volunteers covered topsoil with newspaper and mulch. Special thanks to Larry Burich of University of St. Francis for helping to organize the event, City of Joliet for assisting with mulch, and Dan Vera Township Supervisor who brought his own wheelbarrow to help. Jan Gehrig, newly elected president of Cool Joliet, thanked everyone for their work on getting this community garden underway.
